AZ Jan Palfijn
It is not without reason that the hospital AZ Jan Palfijn is named after a pioneer in surgery and obstetrics, who as far back as the seventeenth century was campaigning for the free exchange of knowledge and technology. Guided by his sound principles, the AZ Jan Gent has developed into a hospital of significance for the whole region of Flanders. 140 doctors and more than 1,000 further employees provide inpatient and outpatient services at an outstanding level, even in the very demanding disciplines of reproductive medicine and robotic surgery. AZ Jan Palfijn Gent relies on Miele Professional for the reprocessing of its medical instruments. In the hospital's own CSSD five PG 8528 washer-disinfectors, four PS 5662v large steam sterilisers and a PG 8830 large chamber washer-disinfector ensure that the sterile services meet the very highest of standards.
Academic Medical Centre (AMC)
The Academic Medical Centre (AMC) is the most famous medical science institution in the Netherlands and one of the largest clinics in the country. The medical faculty and the clinic of the University of Amsterdam work under the same roof with the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience and the medical department of the Royal Tropical Institute. A range of biotech companies round off the concentrated medical competences here, and this creates the perfect basis for a productive scientific cooperation. A competence centre in human medicine requires the highest level of responsibility when it comes to instrument hygiene. Thus the Dutch-British company Synergy Healthcare B.V. is responsible for the disinfection of surgical instruments at AMC Amsterdam. Synergy Healthcare PLC is the largest provider of outsourced disinfection services for the reprocessing of medical instruments in the United Kingdom. The company recently enhanced its service catalogue with a procedure for the sustainable treatment of flexible endoscopes. The surgical department of AMC is busy for 15 hours every day and has an annual throughput of approximately 2.5 million instruments.
St. Mary's Hospital
Seoul St. Mary's Hospital is situated in a busy and affluent area of the city. In 2005 the Catholic University of Korea began building a new and modern clinic here. After its opening in Spring 2009, the hospital, with its 1,200 beds and 40 specialisms, was one of the largest in the country. Seoul St. Mary's Hospital's transplant centre and its cardiology and ophthalmology departments have gained an excellent reputation. But the treatment culture that is intrinsic to the clinic is not reflected in its outstanding medical performance alone. As a matter of course, destitute patients are also treated there as well. Seoul St. Mary's Hospital relies on Miele Professional when it comes to reprocessing instruments and containers. In the hospital's central sterile services, seven PG 8528 washer-disinfectors work around the clock.
University Hospital of Stomatology
The Wuhan University Hospital of Stomatology has more than 400 treatment places and can accept 150 patients on an outpatient basis. As an academic teaching and research hospital for dental, oral and maxillo-facial surgery, it is one of the oldest and most revered universities in China. Its size, but also the level and the scope of the services on offer, have created a reputation for the hospital that extends far beyond the metropolis and the provincial capital Wuhan. Its outstanding reputation serves both as a distinction and an incentive. Therefore, when the reorganisation of the central sterilisation department was being planned as part of the most recent expansion, a stringent comparison was carried out between all the service providers. Miele Professional was selected: Since September 2012, five PG 8528 washer-disinfectors have facilitated the reprocessing of instruments that more than meets the high dental standards of the institutio
Marienstift Hospital
he Marienstift hospital in Brunswick was built in 1883 in front of the gates of the burgeoning city. Nowadays the hospital has 163 beds. With several clinics and efficient supply and service areas it is an essential pillar in the medical primary health care provision for the city and the region. Almost 10,000 people are treated here annually as inpatients and outpatients. The new system operates particularly reliably and economically, in addition, it has sufficient performance capacity reserves for a future expansion in their theatre services.
AUVA
The AUVA accident and emergency hospital Salzburg was opened in 1953 and is situated in the world-famous, historic old town of Salzburg. It is run by the Austrian Social Insurance for Occupational Risks (AUVA), and with a mere 138 beds it is deemed to be one of the smaller hospitals that excels thanks to its outstandingly high performance. More than 42,000 people are treated annually at the UKH Salzburg, almost 5,700 of whom are inpatients. The comprehensive and challenging range of accident surgery ranging from bone and joint injuries to soft-tissue trauma is dealt with here at the UHK. The completely modernised central sterilisation unit at the AUVA accident and emergency hospital Salzburg started operations officially in October 2011. UKH Salzburg and Miele Professional are bound by a relationship of trust that stretches over many years. Miele Professional washer-disinfectors have been used in the hospital's central sterilisation unit since 1998, when they were introduced as part of a general refurbishment. With a surface area of 370 square metres the new CSSD at the UKH Salzburg has twice as much space than before the modernisation and has the capacity for 14,000 sterile goods units per year.
Catharina Ziekenhuis
"Gedreven door het leven – driven by life", is the motto of the Catharina Ziekenhuis, which was founded in 1973. With 696 beds it is not only the largest hospital in the region, but also the most efficient by far. In addition, the hospital operates as an academic teaching hospital. The high level of performance and efficiency of the Catharina Ziekenhuis is also due to its many treatment centres. The heart centre alone is one of the largest centres for interventional cardiology and heart surgery in the Netherlands. A new adipositas centre was recently opened and the oncology centre has been completely renewed and expanded. Patients are treated here by specialist doctors from a number of different disciplines. The experts from Miele developed a plan for the new build of the hospital's CSSD together with the Catharina Ziekenhuis. Covering an area of 800 square metres, 5 large chamber disinfectors, 1 large chamber system for cleaning and disinfection as well as 5 large sterilisers from Miele Professional were installed, as well as comprehensive functional equipment and accessories. Every phase in the building, installation and assembly work had to be planned in minute detail, in order to cause as little disruption as possible to the current reprocessing work being carried out.
